Often to include a morning or afternoon Masterclass/ Workshop,
this may be composer/nationality based or based on a single era
of flute repertoire. Working to increase the students knowledge
and ability to express the differing aspects of flute repertoire.
Sonatas by Prokoviev, Frank, Zyman, Martinu and Gaubert
Individual pieces by Debussy, Gaubert, Jolivet, Martin, Yates and
Cecilia McDowall and Dave Heath. These latter composers are musicians
that Anna has had very close links with.
CUBAN LIFT
Music from the Andes, Bolivia and Equador, flutes and latin band
Anna, (Flutes), just returned to Britain from touring Germany and
Austria playing Principal Flute with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
together with her life-long friend and playing colleague Julie,
(Flutes) of the Carlton Ens, a busy free-lance flautist in Manchester,
have teamed up with :
Kate,(Gittaron, Bass) Co-principal viola of the Britten Sinfonia
as well as the high voltage Micheal Nyman Band, plus, Tony, (Charango,
Quena's, Guitars) Founder- member of celebrated Latin American Folk
Band, 'Incantation', also, soloist/co-producer to film composer
James Horner in scores of films that include, Titanic The Mission
and Apocolypto; and maybe last, but never least……Gary,
(Latin American Percussion, Bongos etc) legendary film session percussionist.
These extraordinary musicians have teamed up to form an ensemble
that performs the sensuous and evocative folk music of Latin America,
from Cuba down to the tip of Peru.
Their Sell Out debut concert on New Years Eve had the audiences
chanting for encores.
The passion, the virtuosity created an electric atmosphere that
was clear for all to feel !
